Before [Photo of no restoration] [Photo of restoration] After Photo Restoration

he "before" photograph on the left side has deteriorated significantly. This type of deterioration is called FRILLING and pieces of the emulsion are cracking and peeling off the paper stock. In fact, this original looked like a jig-saw puzzle because there were so many pieces missing. Frilling occurs most often from cyclical temperatures and humidity. The "before" photo deteriorated because it was stored in an uninsulated attic. In the summer it was hot and humid, then when winter came the photograph was subjected to severe cold and dryness. Year after year and season after season of cyclic conditions encourages the photograph to become brittle and pieces of the emulsion separate from the paper backing
